Lesson Application
APPLICATION FOR SWIMMING LESSONS
Rural Splash YMCA aim through its staff, is to teach people to swim to a standard that is achievable by the individual concerned. Its ultimate goal is to teach basic competence in the three main strokes; breast stroke, back stroke and front crawl. In trying to achieve these standards pupils are encouraged, but not compulsorily, to take certificates and awards produced by National Bodies. Once staff are satisfied that pupils have achieved all they can via the Council’s swimming lessons, they are encouraged to move on to swimming clubs to enable those on the waiting list to have lessons.

The following conditions will apply to lessons
1. The course will consist of 5 x ½ hour lessons which should be booked and paid for in advance. (Sometimes the course is 6 or 7 weeks)
2. The course of swimming lessons should be booked and paid for one week before the first lesson commences. Failure to pay for further courses of lessons in advance will result in the vacancy being filled from the waiting list. No lesson will be given prior to payment.
3. From commencement of the next course of lessons, if notice is given before a booking is made that there will be an absence due to holidays (maximum two weeks per course, four weeks per twelve months), then the course fee payable will be five minus the number of holidays, multiplied by the individual lesson fee.
4. Every effort will be made to ensure that the same swimming teacher is provided for each course of lessons. However, to cover sickness, holidays and unexpected absences, alternative teachers will be provided to take the lesson. The fee charge is for a course of lessons and does not guarantee a course of lessons with the same teacher.
5. REFUND
Once a course of lessons has been paid for, no refunds can be made unless absence is caused by a serious illness which must be confirmed by the production of a doctor’s note
6. Course of lessons are not transferable from one child to another
7. charges for lessons from the 1st July 2009 are as follows:
£4.10 per lesson. This charge does not include a charge for spectators accompanying their child for swimming lessons unless that child is under the age of eight years. If this is the case then one responsible adult in charge of a child under the age of eight years will be admitted to spectate free of charge.
8. If a Bank Holiday occurs during the course of lessons and Kirkham Baths is closed (Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday), the course of lessons will be reduced by the coinciding number of Bank Holidays in that course. Payment will be given minus the number of Bank Holidays multiplied by the individual lesson fee.
9. Classes will normally consist of up to eight children. These classes may consist of children of mixed swimming ability. The teachers may wish to move children to other more suitable classes once they have assessed their pupil’s ability.
10. Siblings of students currently receiving instruction will have to go on the waiting list; however, consideration will be given to family members attending lessons on the same day of the week but not necessarily at the same time of day.
